Kansas Board of Regents Health Insurance Plan & Eligibility Requirements:

Graduate Students eligible to receive the University contribution towards the student-only premium must meet the following eligibility requirements: For each of the fall and spring semesters, the student must hold at least a 50% GTA, GRA, and/or GA appointment for a minimum of eight consecutive work weeks during the semester. For the summer session, the student must hold at least a 50% GTA, GRA, and/or GA appointment for a minimum of four consecutive work weeks from the end of spring semester classes to the beginning of fall semester classes.

The University will approve eligibility for the health insurance plan with a University contribution based on these criteria, application of the Memorandum of Agreement for GTAs, and University policy. Before Step 2 can be completed, the University of Kansas will verify your eligibility to enroll in the GTA/GRA/GA health insurance plan. This may take up to several weeks, depending on when your qualifying appointment is entered into the university’s Human Resources/Payroll system. Once KU notifies UHCSR of your eligibility, you will receive an e-mail from UHCSR confirming your eligibility with instructions on how to complete step 2 and submit premium payment.

Step 2: Follow the directions in the UHCSR e-mail to submit your premium payment. Payment by VISA, MasterCard, or E-CHECK can be made on-line. Payment by personal check should be mailed directly to UHCSR at the address given in the UHCSR e-mail.
